Residential, ISP and datacenter proxies

Anonymous and secure proxy servers are required to work online. In this article, we will discuss what residential and datacenter proxies are, how they work, and why their prices differ. This will help you choose the product that best suits your needs.

Datacenter proxies

Datacenter proxies are hosted in specialized data centers. Their IP addresses are not associated with home internet providers, making them fully static proxies. When using such proxies, web resources can detect the traffic source. Additionally, data center traffic is used when working with VPN services. This setup offers benefits like high speed and bandwidth.

For your convenience, you can check the functionality of your proxies using our online proxy tester.

Residential proxies

This type of proxy is distributed by providers, which increases trust in these IP addresses because they are the same IPs used by real people with their own PCs. They offer higher anonymity and security. These proxies are divided into several types, including ISP proxies, which have fully static IP addresses, and residential proxies, for which payment depends on the amount of traffic used.

ISP proxies

This type of proxy offers the same advantages as residential proxies because the IP addresses are distributed by providers. These proxies also provide high speed, reliability, and anonymity. The IP addresses assigned are fully static. Payment is made for a specific number of IP addresses for the desired period.

For your convenience, you can use our tool to quickly change the format of a large number of proxies.

Residential proxies

These proxies are used by actual home users. Unlike ISP and datacenter proxies, these proxies allow you to access a wide range of IP addresses and use them as long as you have sufficient traffic. Once the allotted traffic is used up, the proxies will stop working, and you will need to purchase more traffic to resume their function.

A key advantage of residential proxies is the ability to choose an IP address from over 190 countries, including the option to select specific cities and providers.

How to use residential proxies

After purchasing proxies, a product card will appear immediately in your dashboard.

Click on the product card. In the first section, you can select the country, city, and session type. Afterwards you can choose the provider. Please note that if you select multiple countries, the option to choose a city and provider will be unavailable.

Above the country selection menu, you can activate the “Premium Pool” option. Using proxies with this option provides access to the cleanest and fastest pool of IP addresses, although the number of such addresses is limited.

Next to it, there is an option for advanced users called “Direct Connection”, which is necessary for working with specialized software, such as mail servers.

There are two types of sessions: static and rotating.

A rotating IP address means that the IP changes constantly, which can be convenient for SEO analytics and marketing. On the other hand, static IP addresses do not change frequently, but this session type allows you to set a specific time interval after which the IP address will be changed.

Below, you can choose the proxy protocol HTTP or SOCKS5. We discussed these protocols in more detail in our article on proxies. There you can choose the provider if you have selected a single country.

When using residential proxies, the payment is based on traffic. You can generate any number of proxies. Also choose the format that is convenient for you to import proxies into the necessary programs, select the proxy port, and the number of proxies. After setting required parameters, click “Generate”. When selecting a static session, you can set the proxy’s TTL (Time to Live).

TTL

TTL is an option that allows you to specify the duration for which an IP address will remain unchanged. While we strive to maintain the same IP address for you as long as possible, we cannot guarantee that it will remain static for more than 7 days. You can set the TTL in seconds, minutes, hours, or days.

Once you have generated the proxies, you will receive the connection details. Let’s take a closer look at them.

Static: premium.proxywing.com:12321:qz4t7kh1d8:2w0hcyvpbo_country-ao_session-7XkRZ3cT

IP – premium.proxywing.com

PORT – 12321

USERNAME – qz4t7kh1d8

PASSWORD – 2w0hcyvpbo_country-ao_session-7XkRZ3cT

or

Rotate: premium.proxywing.com:12321:qz4t7kh1d8:2w0hcyvpbo_country-ao

IP – premium.proxywing.com

PORT – 12321

USERNAME – qz4t7kh1d8

PASSWORD – 2w0hcyvpbo_country-ao

The difference between rotating proxies and static sessions lies in the parameters you set. When generating rotating proxies, it’s important to note that while the configuration may remain the same, each proxy will have a different IP address. Therefore, you shouldn’t be worry if the proxies have the very same data; this is expected behavior.

Below that, you can see the remaining traffic and purchase more if needed. When buying additional traffic, you change your package configuration. For example, if you initially bought one gigabyte of traffic and it runs out, to purchase another gigabyte, enter “2” in the “New Configuration” field. Please note that only whole numbers can be entered so you cannot buy half a gigabyte.

Which proxies are better?

All the proxies described in this article have their pros and cons. If you need a wider selection of proxies from many countries, residential proxies are an excellent choice. To work with fully static IPs, both datacenter proxies and ISP proxies are suitable. They differ in price and connection type. Choose a quality provider that prioritizes proxy security and anonymity.
